More Calorie-Free Ideas For Your 21 Day Fix Containers

You guys really liked the first video featuring 21 Day Fix creator Autumn Calabrese in which she showed different ways to add flavor to your meals without adding calories. So, back by popular demand, here’s another edition of calorie free 21 Day Fix ideas! If you missed the first round, check it out here.

Green (Vegetables)
Start with a medley of vegetables! In this video, Autumn begins with steamed cauliflower, yellow squash, carrots, and asparagus.

Add herbs! Fresh or dried herbs are all free foods. She combines chives, basil, chili spice, and cumin, but experiment! Classics likes sage, rosemary, and parsley are other good additions, but French provincial herbs or spice combinations you find at the store work well too.

Purple (Fruits)
Ever considered using one of your purple containers for dessert? Start with strawberries, drizzle on a little balsamic glaze, zest some lemon on top, and the end result is a sweet, tart, and vitamin-rich treat. Just mind those knuckles when you grate the lemon!

Red (Protein)
Two hard-boiled eggs fit into one red container, but here’s a trick – you don’t have to eat them whole. Try dicing them up like Autumn does and add Dijon mustard, chopped dill and enjoy it on its own, in a salad, or on top of a slice of whole-grain bread.

Yellow (Carbohydrates and Starches)
Meals don’t have to be complicated to make for them to taste good. Some of the tastiest ones are the simplest. In this “recipe,” Autumn mixes together red quinoa with plain rice vinegar to make it taste like sushi rice. Enjoy this as a side dish or add it to a salad!

Blue (Healthy Fats)
You’ve probably snacked on dry roasted nuts before but have you ever made your own? Heat a pan on the stove, and once hot, add nuts. Add a touch of cayenne and smoked paprika. Cook, stirring continually for about two minutes over medium heat. The seasoning will coat them as they cook. Store them in an airtight container and enjoy them in the portions allotted in the 21 Day Fix Eating Plan guide.

Orange (Seeds and Dressings)
Seeds can also be dry roasted. As with the nuts, heat a pan on the stove, and once hot, add the seeds. In the video below, Autumn uses pumpkin seeds (also known as pepitas). Sprinkle coffee grounds and cinnamon. Roast it for two minutes, stirring continually. Store the seeds in an airtight container and enjoy them in the portions allotted in the 21 Day Fix Eating Plan guide.
