Can I Do P90X and Another Workout at the Same Time?
Q: Can I do P90X and another workout at the same time?
A: It’s all dependent upon your ability to recover from that exercise regimen. Now this could prove difficult because Cardio X was designed to be less intense, primarily for the doubles program but also as a low-impact substitute for Plyo. In general, you want a doubles program to include one easy aerobic workout. Cardio X isn’t that exactly but it’s close given the X workouts. This workout is designed to help your body increase its ability to mobilize fat storage, which saves you glycogen stores for when you really need them. Essentially, it’s to fill out your physiological profile. If the workout is too intense you end up compromising your second workout, which could lead to a plateau, and fitness declines. However, for a short period of times two hard workouts in a day can reap benefits, like a hell week in football. There’s also the possibility that you’re so fit you can handle it just fine. Just be ready to adjust down if you strength begins to decrease. If you push this too far you’ll need an entire recovery cycle in order to allow your body to rebuild to where it was. I wouldn’t worry too much about this. I do it all the time. There’s no way to find out what your body can handle unless you push the envelope occasionally.
