Caramel Apple Cocktail
The traditional New Orleans cocktail, called a Brandy Milk Punch, is a decadent mixture of heavy whipping cream, flavored sugar syrup, and of course brandy. As yummy as the drink may be, it’s definitely not on the approved foods list of your healthy diet.
Enter Autumn Calabrese and her brother, chef Bobby Calabrese. For their healthy cooking show FIXATE, they created a Caramel Apple Cocktail inspired by the iconic Brandy Milk Punch recipe, only their cocktail is a whole lot healthier.
To give the drink its signature flavor without using syrup, they begin by crafting a homemade vegan caramel sauce made with coconut sugar instead of refined white sugar.
Incorporate your caramel sauce with a little almond milk and a splash of apple brandy and you’re ready to shake up a delicious cocktail.
Pro tip: This caramel sauce is a great little condiment to have on hand, especially if you are a fan of sweet treats — it’s an ideal topping for Autumn’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Ice Cream.
