Hammer and Chisel Results: Breast Cancer Survivor Loses 10 Pounds, Wins $500!

Tell us about your life before you started The Master’s Hammer & Chisel. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I turned 50 last year, and was two years post-breast cancer, double mastectomy, and multiple surgeries.o I had gotten healthy again after gaining a lot of postmenopausal weight brought on by cancer and the treatments. 21 Day Fix had helped with that! Before I started The Master’s Hammer and Chisel, I was active and back to teaching three to six group exercise classes per week… but always the same workouts, no variation. The holidays also left me lacking in my eating. I wasn’t really paying attention to my food. I quickly saw I was getting into old habits of eating late at night and losing motivation to do workouts that were just for me, not just for the gym members. And I thought there wasn’t enough time to do “my own workouts.” I had to make the time. I was seeing rolls of fat in those “midlife” spots! I had never completed anything beyond 21 days, and I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to see if I really could do it!
What inspired you to begin your transformation journey?
My friends Don and Tammy did the test group and got great results. And honestly, just turning 50… I wanted to do something I hadn’t done before. Seeing rolls of fat appear so easily, I knew if I didn’t change something that is what I could continue to expect as I continue to age. I wanted to show myself that my life really could just be starting a new chapter! I wanted to show myself that my “second half of life” could be my better half in health and fitness.
What is the greatest challenge you faced on your journey, and how did this program help you overcome that challenge?
There were two workouts that were just really hard for me. I really wanted to quit early in the workout or “skip that exercise,” because it was too hard. I cursed sometimes. But Autumn and Sagi’s encouragement right at those times in the DVD was like they knew exactly when I wanted to quit and said just the right thing. Often, I was like, “Just 30 more seconds” or “Just one more rep.” Sometimes there were special occasions I had to really plan around for my eating. A huge help was the Challenge Group I was a part of. Everyone could relate to that one or two workouts that made them Dig Deeper and push. We all posted our sweaty pics and kept each other motivated! We shared recipes and eating ideas. It was so inspiring to see others do what I “didn’t want to do” and then nail it! My daily Shakeology was a treat and my superfood “retreat” for my body. I also used Energize and Recover to help with fatigue and to push through!
What in particular did you like about The Master’s Hammer & Chisel?
The variety of the workouts is fabulous. As much as there were one or two that I hated out of the 10, there were at least three or four that I looked forward to that were kind of fun! I loved seeing my progress. For example, those Bulgarian split squats — I could not do the first time! I did like two and kept falling over. The second time that workout came around, I had improved. The third time, I completed the whole set. Total victory! I felt on top of the world!
Describe the results you achieved with The Master’s Hammer & Chisel. Which achievements are you proud of?
My body feels stronger, leaner, and even taller. I’m sure my posture is great! I have definition in places that have eluded me for most of my life: arms, back, and legs. I remember one morning, in week six, looking in the mirror and saying, “OMG, that’s an oblique!” I lost 10 pounds and over eight inches off my body. I used the available InBody assessment tool at my job for “before” and “after” body fat measurements, and I had lost 4 percent body fat! But the game-changer also was the meal plan. Accustomed to the 21 Day Fix, I was very hopeful. It was simple, and being committed to 60 days really changed my habits in a big way. I committed to learning one new recipe each week. By the end, I had at least six go-to recipes and meal planning techniques, which made life easier and eating right tastier and simple! I am most proud of being committed to the program and seeing my teenage boys lift weights with me at home!
How has your life changed since completing The Master’s Hammer & Chisel?
I will never not strength train again. I just started a 30-day round of The Master’s Hammer. I see the value in it as a “middle-aged” wife and mom. I have more confidence. I feel like I have a whole new wardrobe, because my clothes fit so much better! And shopping for clothes is fun. This “after” photo is the first “off- the-rack” bikini I have bought in over a decade! And let’s just say… “happy, fit wife — very happy hubby!” 🙂
