Relax and Unwind With Sound Meditation
If you’re looking for a way to relieve stress and disconnect from all the uncertainty, check out Sound Meditation on BODi.
What Is Sound Meditation?
Like the name suggests, sound meditation uses sound to help calm your body and mind and promote an overall sense of well-being.
Sound Meditation was created and is led by international sound meditation facilitator and musician, Scarlett de la Torre, to help you feel more relaxed and peaceful — no matter what’s going on in your life.
During a sound meditation, you’ll simply focus on the sounds of overtone-emitting instruments, like singing bowls, harps, chimes, the didgeridoo, and more.
Their soothing tones create a “sound bath,” where vibrations and frequencies can tap into certain brain waves that are responsible for helping you feel at ease, rejuvenated, and content.
Sound meditation may sound like some sort of modern, new-age trend, but it’s actually a centuries-old healing tradition.
Many cultures around the world, including those of Tibetan monks and Aboriginal communities in Australia, have harnessed the power of sound to help promote positive well-being.
What Are the Benefits of Sound Meditation?
Sound meditation is an incredibly beginner-friendly form of meditation. With the sound present, there’s no pressure to quiet your thoughts or free yourself from distractions.
All you have to do is focus on Scarlett’s voice and the tones of her instruments — the sounds will do the rest to help you achieve a serene, balanced headspace.
And there are numerous positive health benefits associated with sound meditation.
Many studies have shown that sound meditation can play a role in helping reduce stress, anxiety, tension, and even pain.
There is also research that links certain kinds of sound technologies to better, deeper sleep. One such technology is called binaural beats.
Binaural beats combine two tones at slightly different frequencies; sound meditations that feature binaural beats are said to slow down brain activity, which helps you fall into a deep, restful sleep. Insomniacs, rejoice!
What Sound Meditations Are Available?
Scarlett created four categories of sound meditations: sleep, anxiety and stress relief, self-care, and productivity and focus.
With these different options, there’s a meditation available to help you with your current state of mind in that moment.
- Sleep: Trouble sleeping? These meditations feature soothing vibrations and binaural beats to help lull you into a deep, peaceful slumber.
- Anxiety and Stress Relief: Free yourself from negative thoughts and ease into a positive, peaceful state.
- Self-Care: Indulge in a little “me time” with meditations that will help you appreciate your body, your mind, and your journey.
- Productivity and Focus: Start your day on a positive note or quickly reset with meditations designed to help you be your most productive self.
These meditations range from 5 minutes to 45 minutes, so no matter how much (or how little) time you have, you’ll find the perfect meditation to meet your unique needs.
How Do I Get Started?
You don’t need any special equipment or props, but we do recommend you have a pair of headphones and a comfy place to sit or lie down.
Then, all you have to do is close your eyes and let the sounds of the instruments and Scarlett’s voice wash over you.
Before you know it, you’ll enter a calm, relaxed state and emerge feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
