Could White Bread Make You Fat?
In a study conducted at the University of Navarra in Spain, researchers followed 9,200 graduate students and found an association between consumption of white bread and weight gain. During the five-year study, those who ate two or more servings per day of white bread were 40% more likely to be overweight by the end of the study than those who ate one or fewer servings per week. Instead of reaching for white bread (or other refined carbs), reach for whole-grain carbohydrates!
